Not too much to say here, except that goodbyes are difficult.
I've realized that it's especially challenging to say goodbye to people who defined a certain life period -- in this case, my CRA colleagues and my wonderful group of DC-based friends -- as doing so represents the conclusion of that phase.
But for me the hardest goodbye was to my grandparents, who will likely be unable to visit, and who were so excited for the commencement of this adventure. I dedicate this blog to them with the hope that they will derive vicarious enjoyment of my time in Uganda by reading it on a somewhat frequent basis.
